Leeds Grand Theatre

The most magnificent of leading ladies, the ‘Grand Old Lady of Leeds’ has been entertaining audiences since 1878 with the best of the day’s cultural entertainment.

Today, she plays host to the best of the West End and other touring productions, alongside opera and ballet from resident companies Opera North and Northern Ballet.

The external glass lift shaft at the front of City Varieties. Is is slightly taller than the red brick building of the theatre and has City Varieties Music Hall written vertically on it.

City Varieties Music Hall

Established in 1865 as a room above a pub for the working class, The Varieties is Leeds’ hidden gem – and the Guinness World Record holder for the nation’s longest running music hall.

The home of the BBC’s Good Old Days, she is still regarded as one of the UK’s finest venues for live comedy, music, variety, and Leeds’ favourite Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto.

Opened in 1914, The Picture House is one of the country’s most distinctive and historic cinemas; harking back to a golden age when single screen picture palaces could be found at the heart of every community.

She is now the home of Independent film in Leeds, boasting a diverse programme, from foreign language films to family favourites.
