Mary Poppins

Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins stood in front of a curtained window. Her hair is pinned back and she is wearing a classic nanny outfit including a long sleeve white blouse and white apron. She has a robin on her finger and she looks as if she is singing to it.

Join us for special family-friendly screenings of this gloriously magical and whimsical classic on its 60th anniversary for Heritage Open Days. Enjoy a classic film in a classic venue, following our recent renovation last year, our grade II listed cinema is the perfect place to revisit this beautiful film with the whole family – all ages welcome.

Mary Poppins follows the adventures of a magical nanny who takes care of two children while teaching them about life’s most important lessons. When the children of the wealthy and uptight Banks family are faced with the prospect of a new nanny, they are pleasantly surprised by the arrival of the magical Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews). Embarking on a series of fantastical adventures with Mary and her Cockney performer friend, Bert (Dick Van Dyke), the siblings try to pass on some of their nanny’s sunny attitude to their preoccupied parents.

Join us at our Saturday screening from 10.30am to create your own traditional moving images using a zoetrope and creating your own thaumatropes!
