David Lynch 101... In a Day

Join Mike Muncer and Becky Darke from The Evolution of Horror Podcast for this special Film School in a Day – an opportunity to learn all about the life and work of David Lynch, presented with talks, clips, discussions and screenings.
When David Lynch passed away earlier this year, the world lost a true visionary.
Intended for both newcomers to Lynch – and fans who are keen to dig a little deeper – David Lynch 101… in a Day will see us take a deep dive into the life and work of this artist and maverick of cinema.
Taking place from 12pm to 7pm – followed by a screening of Blue Velvet at 8.20pm – throughout the day we’ll cover:
- Who is David Lynch? Learn more about the man, his upbringing, his tastes, his personality and interests
- Lynchian cinema: How do we define a typical David Lynch film? A breakdown of the tropes of Lynch and where we find them elsewhere in mainstream media
- The way Lynch changed television… Twin Peaks and the dawn of auteur-driven / mystery box TV
- Lynch as an all-round artist and personality: The multimedia world of Lynch, from his music videos, to his YouTube weather reports, to his short films
- Bringing all these elements together and showing how all of Lynch, from his personality to his interests and tastes play into filmmaking
