Keep Dancing for the over 55s’
This dance workshop inspired by Northern Ballet’s Casanova is fully accessible to all, regardless of previous experience. Whether you have danced all your life or simply want to try something different, the gentle exercises and chance to learn some steps from the production are a great introduction to Northern Ballet.
There will be a warmup focusing on basic ballet steps and then participants will have the opportunity to explore and learn movement from Casanova. Following the workshop, participants will have the chance to listen to a talk about the company and watch our professional dancers take their daily class on stage (Northern Ballet Revealed).
WORKSHOP DETAILS:
Date: Thursday 17 March 2022
Time: 09.15 – 10.45am
Suitability: Anyone aged 55 years or over
Cost: £15 per person
Bookings: All places must be booked through Box Office (call 0113 243 0808). Please ask patrons if they have any access / mobility needs we should be aware of.
Venue: On stage for workshop (9.15am – 10.45am). Join Northern Ballet Revealed for talk (11.15 – 11.45am) and watch company class in the auditorium (11.45am – 12.45pm).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Clothing: the workshop will be practical, and we advise participants to wear loose, comfortable clothing they can move in.
Refreshments: participants might wish to bring a drink of water for during the workshop.

Northern Ballet Revealed
This event offers a unique insight into the life of a touring ballet company, revealing some of the best kept secrets behind Northern Ballet’s productions in the form of a talk from a member of our Learning team. Attendees will also have the opportunity to observe our professional dancers taking their daily training session on stage.
EVENT DETAILS:
Date: Thursday 17 March 2022
Time: 11.15am – 12.45pm
Suitability: Open to all show bookers but not suitable for school groups.
Cost: £5 per person.

Venue: Talk will take place in the Emerald Grand Hall from 11.15 – 11.45am before observing company class in the auditorium from 11.45am – 12.45pm.

Audio Description and Insight Talk
Northern Ballet’s Audio Descriptions are co-written by former Premier Dancer Pippa Moore (MBE) and VocalEyes, offering a unique insight into their productions and bringing the performances to life. You will hear descriptions of the movement, action and drama on stage with music played live by Northern Ballet Sinfonia.
Audio Description ticket holders are encouraged to take part in a free Insight Talk with Pippa before the Audio Described performance. The 1-hour talk will introduce elements of the production to aid your understanding of the show. It will provide an insight into the production of Casanova as you see and hear descriptions of the scenery and feel some of the costumes.
