Films at HEART
The die-hard cinephiles among us may know that today is Reel Film Day. We wanted to take a different approach to mark the day that celebrates movies shot on actual film reels and to shout about film in our local area. HEART is one of our favourite nearby organisations, so we’re looking forward to working with them to present The Wonder. They’ve written some words for us to introduce their volunteer-led group Films at Heart and how they curate their films.

Choosing The Wonder

Films at Heart is run by a steering group of 13 volunteers and is part of HEART, a not-for-profit community enterprise and arts centre in the centre of Headingley. The building was originally a primary school and we screen our films in what was the school hall. We have a fixed projector, screen and sound system.
We are delighted to be invited by HPPH to show our regular monthly film in Screen One on Wed 12 March. We’ve chosen The Wonder directed by Sebastian Lelio and featuring Florence Pugh and Tom Burke. The screening is in collaboration with Des Hurley from Irish Arts Foundation to celebrate Irish History Month.
Our Picture House
Donations will support the ongoing maintenance of HPPH, including continuing to work with outside specialists to keep our building in great shape, investing in training to allow us to continue to learn about how best to work with a historic building and investment in the technology we use to continue to make the building truly work for all the different members of the community who need us.
