Join Our Team - Stage Door Receptionist

Purpose of Job

The Stage Door Receptionist is usually the first point of contact for anyone coming into Leeds Grand Theatre – from the Postman to stars of stage and screen. The successful applicant will play a vital role in making them feel welcome, safe and included. 

The post holder will have a polite, friendly, welcoming and helpful manner and be able to communicate with everyone whoever they are. 

On occasions we may have overtime to cover holidays, sick leave and events, your usual working hours would be up to five days per week (we are happy to discuss specific working patterns with the successful applicants) from 6pm to 11pm 

Our entire team works with a wide range of members of the public, providing a warm welcome to everyone at our performances and buildings. We work hard to make everything we do as accessible to the widest range of people we can. 

About You

The preferred candidate will be happy to work alone to lock and secure a large complex building and have a friendly, approachable manner.  

They will deliver excellent standards of customer service and be a supportive team player. You will also need a good sense of direction and excellent eyesight due to the complexity of the building and low lighting levels in some areas. 

The role requires the applicant to be effective, a logical thinker, flexible in their approach and not afraid to use their initiative within the clear framework of the role.

Salary and Benefits

Contract Type: Permanent

Responsible to: Head of House Management

Salary: £12.30

Holiday entitlement: 20 days (plus bank holidays), increasing with length of service (pro-rated for part-time hours)

Probation Period: Six months

Notice Period: One month, on completion of probationary period

Hours: To cover evenings from 6pm – 11pm (we envisage this to be three evenings per week, to be discussed at interview). Overtime may be available to suit the requirements of business (sometimes at short notice). This is likely to be additional evenings, afternoons or Sunday working.
