Swiss director Claude Barras’ much-anticipated follow-up to the Oscar-nominated My Life as a Courgette is another strikingly realised stop-motion animation.
Set on the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. One day, at the edge of the immense tropical forest where she lives, 11-year-old Kéria steps in to protect an orphaned baby orangutan. As she takes care of the young ape, her young cousin Selaï takes refuge with them to escape the conflict between his family and the forestry company who are trying to destroy his home.
From then on, the trio fight together against the threat of destruction that weighs on their ancestral forest. At the same time Kéria is given a rare opportunity to discover her Penan roots.
Our 11:30 screening on Sunday will have a very special introduction from Leeds Friends of the Earth.
