Legacy Gift Donations

Support our future; leave a gift in your will.

If Leeds Grand Theatre, City Varieties Music Hall or Hyde Park Picture House play a special part in your life, then maybe you’d consider leaving us a legacy gift in your will to help us to continue to support, inspire and entertain future generations.

After you have provided for your loved ones, leaving a gift in your will (no matter what the amount), will ensure your love and passion for the arts and culture, and the heritage of our astounding buildings continues after you’re gone. As a charity, which receives less than 1% income from public funding, we rely on the generosity of our audiences and supporters to help us generate income.

How to leave your gift

In a new will

If you plan to create a new will and include a gift, you will need to decide what type of gift you wish to leave.

You should consider whether your situation is likely to change in the future. The type of gift you choose can reflect your personal circumstances and can also be given conditionally. We strongly recommend you visit a solicitor to ensure your wishes can be followed.

You can find a local solicitor in your area by searching The Law Society.

Amending an existing will

If you have a will already, you can add an additional gift by using a codicil. A codicil is a form which can be used to include additional gifts without drawing up a new will.

We recommend speaking to a solicitor to ensure that any codicil added does not invalidate any part of your original will. You should store a completed codicil with, but not attached, to your existing will.

Any complex changes will usually require a new will to be written.

Types of gift

Pecuniary Gifts

This is a fixed amount of money. Pecuniary gifts are the first to be made from your estate and can be index linked to protect their value.

Residuary Gifts

This is a share of your estate. Residuary gifts come from the remainder of your estate, after costs are deducted and pecuniary gifts have been made.
