Trick or treat? LHT Unwrapped this October
On Friday 13th October at around 9pm all the stars aligned and a spooky baby called Imogen was born. It was my destiny that I would grow up to love Halloween…

Getting creative this season
The ‘ber months are my absolute favourite. I love cosy evenings at home, crispy leaves on the ground and I cannot function without a pumpkin spiced latte while blasting All Too Well (10 Minute Version). But October is my favourite, as I have always loved Halloween. I love the costumes, the spooky films, and all the treats! That is why our October LHT Unwrapped activities are so fun for me.
I love having the creative freedom to make exciting workshops where everyone is welcome – whether your child regularly attends Leeds Grand Youth Theatre or they just want to give drama a go.
For last October’s activities, the Learning and Engagement team led ghost tours of The Grand and The Varieties for participants; we were even lucky enough to have some ghostly encounters! This year we have three unique workshops at Leeds Grand Theatre and two exciting special effects workshops at Hyde Park Picture House. I think they’re going to be a real treat…

Potion Party (ages 6-8) – Wed 29 October 2025
As we welcome your children into our studio we will use our imaginations to transform the space into a witch’s lair. Through play we will explore the effects of potions and will even get the opportunity to make our very own potions. I am really looking forward to the magic of this day, especially making crafts and using them in our drama!

Inspired by the story of Frankenstein, your child will use props and costumes to build their very own monster. These will be the focus of our exciting drama games led by our Learning and Engagement team. I absolutely love costumes and dressing up, so I am really excited to get stuck in with the designing.

On Halloween, we will be exploring ‘The Scottish Play’, Shakespeare’s spookiest play. Through drama games and group exercises, participants will discover the story of Macbeth and some of the spookier elements of the play. I look forward to working with Andrew, our Shakespeare sage, on this workshop and bringing the story of Macbeth to life!
