Celebrate The Picture House's birthday with poetry
Happy belated National Poetry Day! To celebrate this and The Picture House’s upcoming birthday, we would love you to write a poem inspired by Hyde Park Picture House for our poetry competition – whether drawing inspiration from the building’s history or from the magical stories that happen within its walls – we are open to however you would like to interpret it.

The competition
Just as we love cinema in all its forms, we love poetry in all its forms too. Therefore, we are open to any form or style of poetry and can’t wait to read your writing!
If you love our cinema as much as we do, you might want to write an ode to The Picture House, or, if you had your first date at the cinema, your entry could be a sonnet or a love poem set here. Maybe you think the low lighting of our flickering gas lights would make the perfect setting for a spooky poem, or, if your passion is time travel, your poem could be about a different period in the cinema’s history… the possibilities are endless!
Get your entries in by the cinema’s birthday on Sat 2 November 2024.
