Amélie

Presented by Curzon Film World Limited
£10.50
Hyde Park Picture House
Amelie sits wide-eyed in a theatre amongst other viewers, looking towards a screen and lit by soft, blueish lighting.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s magical romance starring Audrey Tautou turns 25 this year. What better way to celebrate than bringing it back to the big screen!

23-year-old Amélie Poulain is lonely. After an isolating childhood, she moves to Paris and becomes a waitress at the Café des Deux Moulins, a restaurant filled with a colourful cast of diners and employees. But, she exists as curious observer of this world, living her life always at a safe distance.

One night, Amélie happens across a box of treasures hidden in her apartment, stowed away for safe keeping by a young boy many years ago. This discovery throws open Amélie’s mind to the possibility of a different life and she decides to dedicate herself to giving back to her community. This begins with the return of some more treasured belongings but that is just the beginning!

Whilst completing these good deeds, Amélie crosses paths with a mysterious stranger and the relative safety of her world is put at risk.
