It is with a heavy heart that we have learned of the passing of our good friend Kay Mellor. Leeds born and bred, Kay was a pioneer of northern drama and real-life stories, going where no other female writer, director, or actor had gone before. We’re deeply proud and humbled to have been chosen as the home venue for her two stage premieres, Fat Friends The Musical (2017) and Band of Gold (2019) – both of which were huge success stories, as was everything that Kay turned her hand to. The hearts and thoughts of our theatre family are with her family, who we are also blessed to call friends of our theatres.

Henning Wehn: It'll All Come Out In The Wash

City Varieties Music Hall
Henning Wehn with rubber washing up gloves covered in soap suds pulling a funny face

Watch German Comedy Ambassador Henning Wehn give everything a good rinse and witness him wring sense out of the nonsensical. An unbiased look at a certain virus might be inevitable but Henning has no agenda; he just happens to be always spot on. It’s a curse.

Henning’s most recent television and radio appearances include BBC’s Have I Got News for You, Would I Lie To You?, Live at the Apollo, Question Time, Fighting Talk, The Unbelievable Truth, Comedy Central’s Guessable and Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
